The BD FACSPresto™ system includes the instrument, integrated software, sample incubation work station, and single-use disposable cartridges. The system is designed to provide absolute and percentage results of CD4 T lymphocytes and total hemoglobin (Hb) concentration in whole blood samples.

To fit the needs of resource-limited settings, the BD FACSPresto™ near-patient CD4 counter is small and portable, weighing just under 7 kilograms. It can be operated by a rechargeable battery and is designed to handle extreme environmental conditions, including both temperature and humidity.

The BD FACSCount system is a compact, self-contained system, incorporating instrument, reagents, and controls, for automatic counting of CD4, CD8, and CD3 T lymphocytes. The BD FACSCount system uses whole blood, eliminating lyse and wash steps. A unique software algorithm automatically identifies the lymphocyte populations of interest. Easy to use, cost effective, and reliable in the clinical laboratory, the BD FACSCount system has made HIV/AIDS monitoring easy in all types of labs for over 12 years.
